Escaping the Heat

The Last couple of days have been so hot and humid that it makes you just want to find some water and jump in. Joe knew of a little spot next to a marina that is only twenty minutes from where we live.
Brodie loves playing in the sand
Some how I forgot all of Brodie's sand toys at home, so he had to make due with some cups that I had in the car

His favorite thing is jumping up really high and splashing me

Brodie is the ultimate animal lover, unfortunately animals don't always feel that way about him. However that has not discouraged him from learning how to call all animals. Recently he master the Elephant call, you know just in case he happens to run into one. (if you pause the music at the bottom you can hear him).

Brodie's It

Here are some videos of Brodie playing at Delaware Park. My mom has been begging me to get a video of him running around with the girls. Every weekend Delaware park is packed with kids, they have a really big grove area with picnic benches, playground and a sand pit. The kids love it, we are really lucky to be racing here at Delaware Park because it is such a kid friendly place. Brodie loves playing with the older kids, and the girls all love Brodie. They have invented a game called "Come get me Brodie" I am pretty sure that the object of the game is to surround Brodie and yell "Come get me". Then Brodie runs up and pushes them, the girls all giggle and Brodie is just happy to be pushing people without getting in trouble.

Free Samples

Today Brodie and I went to Costco, to stock up on meat now that it is BBQ season. Much to my surprise, today just happened to be free sample day. For those of you who may not know, free sample day was like a holiday to Brittany and me. We used to go to Costco for lunch and eat for free filling ourselves up with all their samples and washing it down with whatever energy drink they were trying to push. Now that Britt is in Minnesota, I thought those days were over. That was until today, when I discovered that my son has the same appreciation for free food as I do. We ate pizza, hot dogs, quiche, burritos, chips, and cheese. It was great. Brodie was so into it that he was spotting the stands before I was and pointing while shouting "mama Peas, mama peas" which is his way of saying please. I couldn't have been more proud.

Feels like Summer

Today we had a great day, we went to my favorite town North East, Maryland. We went to Elk Neck State Park, it backs up to the Chesapeake Bay and has a really quiet little beach there. Today, we were throwing a little going away Party for Courtney, Neeko and Piper, and lucky for us we had the whole place to ourselves. We played in the water, played on the park and then when we started BBQing we got caught in a little down pour. Luckily it didn't last long and everyone got right back to playing and eating.

When the rain started Britt and baby Gabi hid under towels
most of them ran for shelter

And Joe and Da took turns holding the umbrella over the BBQ
Once the rain stopped the sun came back out and Brodie played on the playground with Da

Delaware Park and Dulaney

Yesterday we had a great day at Delaware Park, the weather was good and all of Brodie's cousins were there. It was the first time that Brodie has seen any of them since his surgery. He ran up and said hi to all of them, and then he got to Dulaney. It was so cute I had to share the pictures of him and "his Dananie".

so cute

Zero to Sixty

Brodie has been recovering so fast that it is amazing. He is now completely off of all pain medicines, and we are beginning to wean him off of the post surgery meds as well. It is hard to believe, but the surgeries have been so successful that in a few weeks Brodie will be medication free for the first time in his life. That is something that in the beginning of this whole ordeal we were told would be unlikely, so to me it seems like the biggest victory ever. My mom was here for a few days and we had the best time with her. Brodie was very happy to have an audience to show off to, so she got to see all of his tricks. We also had our first post-op appointment and they said that everything looked great, they also gave us the green light to go outside. So lately we have been enjoying the sunshine again. During the appointment I mentioned to our doctor that we might want to leave Delaware this winter and go to Oaklawn, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "that's fine, we are pretty much done". That hit me like a ton of bricks D.O.N.E. That is something that I wasn't sure we were ever going to hear.

Home

We are home!!! Sorry I haven't updated for a few days, but we have just been enjoying being home. Although we did bring home a few habits from the hospital, like Finding Nemo. In the hospital I think Brodie watched it at least 5 times a day. At home we are still watching it at least twice a day. Brodie is doing great, we go back to AI DuPont for our first follow up on Tuesday. Also, Maam'a is coming on Monday to spend a few days with us, so we are really looking forward to that. So far Brodie hasn't minded staying inside all day, but unfortunately we are missing the opening day of Delaware Park today. So we will be watching a rooting for Joe from home.
